EV Charger Installation in East Kilbride

The Brief

A homeowner in East Kilbride had bought a new electric vehicle and wanted a reliable home charging point so they could charge overnight rather than relying on public chargers. They asked for a compliant wall-mounted unit fitted safely and neatly, with the reassurance of full certification. As an approved installer for leading EV charger brands, we were well placed to survey the property, recommend the right charger, and complete the work to current standards.

What We Did

Our work included:

• Surveyed the electrical supply: Assessed the existing consumer unit and available capacity to confirm the property could support a dedicated EV charging circuit without any additional upgrades.
• Recommended the right charger: Advised on a suitable wall-mounted unit for the vehicle and the homeowner's charging habits, positioned for convenient access from the driveway.
• Installed a dedicated circuit: Ran a new dedicated circuit from the consumer unit to the charging point, with compliant cabling routed neatly and protected in the correct containment.
• Mounted and connected the charger: Securely fixed the wall-mounted charger and made all connections to manufacturer specifications and current regulations.
• Tested and certified the installation: Carried out full testing of the new circuit and issued certification confirming the work meets BS 7671 standards.
• Handover and demonstration: Showed the homeowner how to operate the charger and get the most from their new home charging point.

The Result

A safe, reliable home charging point that lets the homeowner charge their electric vehicle overnight on a dedicated circuit. The installation was completed to current BS 7671 standards, tested, and certified, with tidy cabling and a secure, well-positioned charger. The homeowner now has the convenience of charging at home with complete confidence in the work.

Job Duration: Completed within a single day, from survey to testing, certification, and handover.
