Can I get an EV charger installed at my home?

Yes, most homes can have an EV charger installed. We carry out a survey to confirm your electrical capacity and recommend the best unit for your property. All installations are fully compliant with current regulations.

Which EV charger brands are you approved for?

We are an approved installer for leading EV charger brands including Tesla, Wallbox, Rolec, Zappi and Ohme. We assess your property and recommend the best unit for your vehicle and budget, then install it to manufacturer specification and BS 7671 standards.

How long does installation take?

Most domestic EV charger installations are completed within a single day, including supply, fitting, testing, and certification.

What brands of charger do you install?

We install a range of leading EV charger brands including Tesla, Wallbox, Rolec, Zappi and Ohme, and can advise on the best unit for your vehicle, usage, and budget. All units are installed to manufacturer specifications and BS 7671 standards.

Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?

Yes, EV chargers require a dedicated circuit from your consumer unit. We assess your existing setup during our survey and include any necessary upgrades in our quote.

Why should I upgrade my consumer unit?

Older fuse boards may not provide adequate protection against electrical faults. A modern consumer unit with RCD protection and circuit breakers significantly reduces the risk of electric shock and fire.

How long does a consumer unit upgrade take?

Most consumer unit upgrades are completed within a single day. The power will need to be switched off during the changeover, but we aim to minimise disruption.

Will I need to rewire my property?

Not necessarily. In many cases, a consumer unit upgrade can be carried out without a full rewire. We assess your existing wiring during the survey and advise accordingly.

Will you test the circuits after upgrading?

Yes, we carry out full testing of all circuits after the upgrade and provide a completion certificate confirming the work meets BS 7671 standards.

Can you install an outdoor socket?

Yes. We install weatherproof, IP-rated outdoor sockets and supplies, positioned and protected correctly and certified to BS 7671.

Can you run power to my shed or garage?

Yes, we regularly install supplies to sheds, garages, and outbuildings, including lighting and sockets, using the correct armoured cabling and containment.

Can you install a hot tub circuit?

Yes. Hot tubs need a dedicated, RCD-protected circuit. We assess your supply, install the circuit safely, and certify the work.

Is outdoor electrical work weatherproof?

Yes, all external work uses IP-rated, weatherproof equipment designed for outdoor conditions and installed to current regulations.

Can you replace my old lights with LED?

Yes. We upgrade interior and exterior lighting to energy-efficient LED, which lasts longer and reduces running costs. We advise on colour temperature and controls.

Can you install downlights?

Yes, we install recessed LED downlights throughout homes and commercial spaces, planning the layout for even, comfortable light.

Do you install garden and security lighting?

Yes, we install garden, patio, and security lighting, including sensor-activated and timer-controlled options, all weatherproof and certified.

Can you set up dimming or smart lighting?

Yes, we can install dimming, zoning, and smart lighting controls and advise on the best setup for your space.

What is an EICR?

An Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) is a formal inspection and test of your property's fixed electrical wiring. It identifies faults, deterioration, or non-compliance with current safety standards.

Do landlords need an EICR?

Yes, landlords in Scotland are legally required to have a valid EICR for their rental properties, renewed every five years or sooner if the report specifies.

How long does an EICR take?

A typical domestic EICR takes between two and four hours, depending on the size and age of the property.

What happens if faults are found?

The report categorises any issues by severity. We explain the findings clearly and provide a quote for any recommended remedial work, flagging urgent safety issues immediately.

Is an EICR the same as a PAT test?

No. An EICR covers the fixed wiring in your property, while PAT testing covers portable appliances. They are separate inspections and we offer both.

What is PAT testing?

Portable appliance testing (PAT) is the inspection and testing of portable electrical equipment to confirm it is safe to use. Each item is checked, labelled, and logged.

Who needs PAT testing?

Businesses, offices, and landlords commonly need PAT testing to meet health and safety obligations and insurance requirements.

How often should appliances be tested?

It depends on the type of equipment and environment. We can advise on a suitable interval for your appliances and setting.

Do I get a report?

Yes, on completion you receive a full report listing every item tested, with each labelled as passed or failed.

Can you help with planning and design?

Yes, we work with clients from the planning stage through to completion, advising on the best electrical layout, ensuring compliance, and managing the project from start to finish.

What commercial premises do you work on?

We work on offices, retail units, salons, industrial premises, and mixed-use buildings, on both new builds and refurbishments.

Do you carry out three-phase work?

Yes, we install and maintain three-phase distribution and power, with correctly dressed internal wiring and SWA cabling to industry best practice.

Can you work around our business hours?

Yes, we understand disruption must be kept to a minimum, so we can arrange work outside your normal operating hours where required.

My electrics keep tripping. Can you help?

Yes. Tripping breakers or RCDs usually point to a fault on a circuit or appliance. We test to find the cause and carry out a compliant repair.

Can you find intermittent faults?

Yes, intermittent faults can be hard to trace, but we use proper diagnostic testing to locate the root cause rather than guessing.

Will you tell me the cost before repairing?

Yes, once we have diagnosed the fault we explain what is needed and what it will cost before we carry out any repair.

Do repairs come with certification?

Yes, repairs are carried out to BS 7671 standards with certification provided where required.
